Untitled notes 1

Note 1: The following has no formal title thus I have given it the generic name of "Untitled Notes." Since there may be quite a number of then I have given them sequential numbers - this only indicates the order in which I found them.

Note 2: The rest of this notebook was typed up, however the computer crashed and I had to reformat the drive and didn't save the complete file!.

The Song of the Kankaller

READ THIS FIRST - The Notes of Steve Toolis

INTRODUCTION

Between 1990 and 1992 I attended Bridgwater College, Somerset in order to gain some much needed GCSE qualifications. During that time there was one afternoon every week that was set asside for non study activities. I had set up and been running my own weekly AD&D RPG sessions for some time prior to this and it was during my time at Bridgwater that I met Steve Toolis who discovered I was also a roleplayer. Once a week we met up with a few others and spent two happy and enjoyable years roleplaying. Much later in 1997 I bumped into him in a second hand record shop in Taunton where he told me he was giving up roleplaying and that he had all of his original RPG notes and felt it would be appropriate to psss them onto me for a small fee. Thus I went to his house and collected a box of material and returned home. They have sat in a box file ever since, although at one juncture I did indeed type up a number of them but unfortunately having changed computers many times since then the original digital files have been lost. They are herein presented typed up as verbatim.

I have called the entire collection:

The Notes of Steve Toolis

Naming connventions: Many of the various tracts of text were not given formal titles - in the cases where they were I have retained them. in the cases of those that were not given formal titles I have used generic or descriptive titles to differentiate one set of unnamed notes from another. Some texts make reference or are somehow linked to others - in those cases I have made a cross-reference by using the title of the other document.

Inferences, spelling errors and grammar: It should be noted that Steve was not a lover of punctuation and in order to make some sense of his writing I have, out of necessity, used punctuation mainly to make sentance structure clearer, although none of the text has altered. Inferred or interpreted information on my part are included in red text square brackets [], this includes my own commentary where essential or necessary for clarification purposes

Steve also had the propensity for inventing fabulously named magical items but rarely giving any details about their powers and/or abilities. I have made no attempt to define them.

Document format: The documents exist in a number of formats detailed below. All were scanned at 300dpi using a Plustek OpticSlim 1100 A3 flatbed scanner into Photoshop CS2 and adjusted. for brightness/contrast and cropped accordingly.

1. Printed format. The firt 60 were transcribed from original handwritten notes (these no longer exist) and printed on A4 paper in Ariel 12pt font. The remainder are computer printed (sometimed double sided) using old dot matrix printer and thus are of varied quality and readability.+-

2. Handwritten format. On lined paper, occassionally double sided.

3. Maps. Most hand drawn on squared paper. Some computer printed.

4. Notebooks. Handwritten in A5 48 page stapled standard W.H. Smith's notebooks. Lined or squared. Double pages were scanned where neccessary.

Documents over about 10 pages in lenght have been split into single posting out of neccessity. They are numbered incrementally.

Given the nature of blog sites the latest post appears first with this (the first) being the last.

Other than that they are presented here as is in no particular order for posterity such as that may exist in the deigital/internet age and I humbly dedicate this to Steve Toolis for much more than just Mavmaramis 1303.
